In the ever-turning wheel of life, we witches sometimes find ourselves feeling drained, disconnected, or simply out of sorts. Perhaps the mundane world has taken its toll, or we’ve unwittingly allowed our power to seep away through doubt or fear. Whatever the cause, it’s high time we address the art of reclaiming our innate magical essence.
Indeed, it’s not uncommon for the humdrum of everyday life to cast a shadow over our magical practices. The demands of work, family obligations, and the never-ending to-do lists (how many of us have lists?) can leave us feeling drained and disconnected from our craft, rather than the empowered witches.
Moreover, recent world events have shaken many of us to our core, casting doubt not only on our place in the world but on the efficacy of our craft itself. The constant barrage of distressing news, from political upheavals to environmental crises, can make our spellwork feel insignificant in the face of such monumental challenges. We might find ourselves questioning, “What good is a protection spell when the world seems to be falling apart?” or “How can my rituals make a difference when global events feel so overwhelming?
It’s crucial to acknowledge that these feelings are valid and shared by many in our magical community. The weight of the world can be a heavy burden, especially for those of us who are sensitive to energies and deeply connected to the earth’s rhythms. However, it’s precisely during these tumultuous times that our craft becomes more important than ever.
Recognising the Signs Before we can reclaim our power, we must first recognise when it’s slipped away. Have you noticed: Your spells lack their usual potency? Divination feels murky or unclear? You’re hesitant to trust your intuition? Rituals feel more like a chore than a celebration.
If you’ve nodded along to any of these, fear not. These are simply signposts guiding you back to your true self.
Grounding in Your Craft
The first step in reclaiming your power is to reconnect with the very essence of your practice:
1. Revisit Your Roots: Remind yourself of the spark that ignited your magical journey. I find either looking over my old grimoire or rereading books that sparked my interest in the craft. You may find that there are certain things from the past that are not relevant to your craft today, but you will be able to see how much you have grown.
2. Commune with Nature Spend time in the wild places that call to you. Let the earth’s energy seep into your bones and recharge your spirit.
3. Cleanse Your Space: Both physically and energetically clear your sacred space. As without, so within. See here for cleansing rituals.
The Mirror of Power
You will need: a mirror; a black candle; if you have one, do not worry if you don’t; any candle is fine; your intention is where your true magic lies.
1. Light the candle.
2. Gaze into the mirror and speak aloud: “I reclaim the power that is rightfully mine. It flows through me, unobstructed and pure.”
3. Visualise your aura growing brighter with each breath.
4. When you feel fully charged, extinguish the candle and carry that energy with you.
The Cord Cutting Ceremony
You’ll need: a length of cord or ribbon; scissors. A cauldron or fireproof bowl
1. Tie the cord around your wrist, naming each knot as something that’s been draining your power.
2. When ready, cut the cord, declaring, “I release that which no longer serves me. My power is my own.”
3. Burn the cord pieces in your cauldron, transforming the energy.
Maintaining Your Magical Mojo
Once you’ve reclaimed your power, it’s crucial to maintain it. Consider incorporating these practices into your daily routine: –
Morning Affirmations: Start your day by affirming your power. “I am a conduit of magical energy, strong in my craft and sure in my path.” –
Energy Shielding: Before leaving home, visualise a protective bubble around you, keeping your energy intact.
Nightly Reflection: End each day by acknowledging your magical acts, no matter how small.
Our ancestors practiced their craft through plagues, wars, and societal upheavals. They understood that maintaining their connection to the magical realms was not just a luxury but a necessity for survival and growth.
You may have heard the phrase,” “We are the granddaughters of the witches you couldn’t urn.” Well,, well keep that in mind.
Every spell cast with intention, every ritual performed with sincerity, ripples out into the world, creating change in ways we may not immediately see but are no less powerful for their subtlety.
In the face of doubt, let us return to the fundamental truths of our craft:
1. Our power comes from within. No external event can truly diminish the magic that resides in our very beings.
2. We are connected to something greater: Whether you call it the universe, the divine, or simply within., remember that we are part of a vast, interconnected web of energy.
3. Small actions have big impacts: our seemingly small magical workings can have far-reaching effects.
4. Adaptation is key Our craft has survived for millennia because of its ability to adapt. Let’s use this time to evolve our practices to meet the challenges of our modern world.
Take a deep breath, centre yourself, and remember: you are a witch, a wielder of magic, a shaper of reality. The power has always been within you, waiting to be rekindled. Let’s fan those flames together and light up the darkness with our reclaimed magical essence.
