Quick rituals—Candlelight Mirror Ritual—Friday Release & Reflection.

There’s something sacred about pausing—just long enough to listen. Not to the noise of the world, but to your own bones, your breath, and what flickers behind your eyes. This is a mirror ritual born from Victorian gothic charm and witchcraft wisdom. A moment to reflect, release, and reclaim.

The Magic of the Mirror

In many traditions, mirrors have long been seen as portals—gateways to other realms, reflections of hidden truths, and surfaces for scrying. In the soft glow of candlelight, a mirror doesn’t just reflect—it whispers.

When we use a mirror intentionally at the end of the week, we allow ourselves a moment of deep seeing. We look not at our appearance but into the energies we’ve carried, the experiences we’ve survived, and the parts of ourselves we’ve forgotten.

What You’ll Need:

  • A mirror (ornate or simple, whatever you have)
  • Two candles (black is ideal, but use any colour available)
  • A piece of paper and a pen
  • Matches or a lighter
  • A quiet space
  1. Light a single candle and place it in front of a mirror.
  2. Sit in silence. Breathe in for 4 counts, out for 6.
  3. Gaze softly into your reflection—not for beauty, but for truth.
  4. Whisper:
“I see the witch I was this week. I release what no longer fits.”
  5. Blow out the candle. Close your eyes. Feel the stillness.
  6. If you need to write down anything that has bothered you, carefully burn the paper.

Why It Matters

This ritual allows you to honour your week—both the magic and the mundane, the joy and the ache. It’s a spell of remembrance, but also of release.

You are not the same witch you were on Monday. And that is the point.
