Creating a Victorian Gothic Flower Arrangement

Here is a simple Victorian Gothic flower arrangement, which can easily be adapted to suit you and the seasons.

Material ideas:
  • Dried Gypsophila: This delicate flower adds an ethereal quality. I grew mine. You can also get them in fresh flower arrangements. This is great because you can then dry the lot.
  • Dried Honesty: Again, I grew this too; I love how vintage it looks.
  • Dried or Faux Flowers: I’ve gone for black, purple, and red faux flowers.
  • Glass Jar or Vase: Mine is just a simple glass square-shaped vase at the moment, but I am always on the lookout!
  • Black Lace: Use black lace as a decorative accent around the jar or vase. The black lace I have used here is from an old long glove I had, which had become extremely frayed but on this you cannot see it as it is all at the back. It is always worth looking to see what you have lying around. The bow is tied using lace I bought from Amazon. I always keep some in. We used some around our wedding cake and I have made a ruffle collar with it.
Other Ideas.
  • Opt for flowers with rich, dark hues to enhance the gothic theme.
  • Consider adding small decorative elements like feathers or vintage trinkets to further personalise your arrangement.
  • Use seasonal dried flowers to keep your display relevant throughout the year.
  • If in doubt, you can get ready-made faux bouquets like these.
