My Path as a Yoga Witch

Hi there I’m Anya, and I like to unofficially call myself a yoga witch. Not because I’m trying to do perfect poses or make yoga aesthetic, but because both the physical practice and philosophies of yoga completely changed my spiritual practice. It helped me stop living entirely in my head and finally feel grounded and safe in my body.

For me, yoga has never just been about movement. It’s about the connection between mind, body, and Spirit. It’s about self-study, breath, awareness, and learning how to hold energy in a healthier way.

Witchcraft has always felt expansive for me. It opens me up, heightens my intuition, and connects me more deeply to Spirit. But yoga grounds me. It gives me a place to land and helps me carry myself and my energy throughout the day.

And honestly, I needed that more than I realized.

There was a time where I felt overwhelmed more often than empowered. I would do rituals, feel everything intensely, and then feel energetically overloaded afterward. As a neurodivergent and empathic witch, who has been through a lot of trauma, I was holding onto way too much energy without realizing it and it was impacting my daily life.

Maybe you’ve felt that too. Deeply spiritual, deeply sensitive… but also exhausted, scattered, or emotionally flooded.

That’s exactly where yoga changed everything for me.

Why Witches Need Grounding

Witchcraft expands your energy. Yoga helps you ground and integrate it.

As witches, we spend so much time opening ourselves through ritual, divination, spellwork, and intuitive practices. But if you’re constantly expanding without grounding, eventually your nervous system starts feeling overwhelmed.

That’s why yoga became such a gamechanger for me.

Yoga didn’t take away my magick. It strengthened it. It helped me process energy instead of carrying it around inside my body. It helped me reconnect with myself instead of constantly feeling overstimulated or energetically “too open.”

Honestly, grounding is one of the most important parts of spellwork, and yoga teaches you how to do that in a very real and embodied way.

Yoga Helps You Hold Energy

One of the biggest lessons yoga taught me is that your body is your first altar.

Your breath, your awareness, your nervous system, and your physical body all affect how you move through spiritual work.

I also noticed that after intense rituals or group energy work, I’d sometimes feel wired or emotionally overloaded afterward. Learning yogic breathwork and somatic breathing practices helped me regulate my energy and come back down afterward instead of staying stuck in overstimulation.

And honestly? That made my intuition clearer too.

When your nervous system is dysregulated, everything can start feeling like a “sign”. But when you feel grounded and connected to yourself, your intuition becomes much easier to trust.

Simple Ways to Start Yoga as a Witch

If you want to explore yoga as a witch, keep it simple. Yoga is not about becoming the most flexible person in the room. It’s about becoming more connected to yourself, your body, and your energy.

Here are a few easy ways to begin:

  • Roll out your mat, or honestly just lay on the floor, your bed, or your couch, and take five slow intentional breaths.
  • Try a short grounding flow before tarot, spellwork, meditation, or ritual work.
  • Pair gentle stretching with journaling, moon rituals, or morning intention setting.
  • Practice breathwork when you feel energetically overwhelmed or emotionally flooded.
  • Use yoga as a way to reconnect and ground your body after intense spiritual work.

Some days your practice might look like a full flow. Other days it might simply be taking a few grounding breaths before ritual work. Both matter.

You do not need a perfect routine to begin. Consistency matters far more than intensity.

Continue Your Practice With Me

Because yoga has helped me so much on my spiritual path, I’ve started sharing witchy yoga flows and grounded spiritual practices on my YouTube channel.

My approach to yoga is less about perfection and more about embodiment, grounding, nervous system support, and helping sensitive people feel more connected to themselves.

If you’ve been wanting to explore becoming a yoga witch, I’d love to practice together.
